Following their grade-level overnight field experience to Brandon Spring in Land Between the Lakes, 4th Graders conducted a CAROUSEL brainstorming activity to generate ideas about their trip.
Afterwards, students combined this knowledge and experience with POETRY! We studied some MENTOR POEMS by William Carlos Williams

Fourth graders discovered the characteristics of POETRY on their own with a "Browse and Pass" activity (using award-winning poems from the KY English Bulletin).
Next, we "borrowed the pattern" of a poem called
"Where I'm From" by George Ella Lyon,
Kentucky's Poet Laureate for 2015.
